They have already released the AMT Van and I hope that AMT re-releases the other models from this series as well. Originally this Fire Truck series had the Snorkel, Ladder Truck, Pumper, EMT Van and a Fire Chief Sedan. For anyone that enjoys the genre of heavy trucks, especially fire trucks, this is a great kit and I would highly recommend it. This kit is easily customizable and you can add detail to your heart’s content with a steady hand and a good detailed brush. I still think the kit is a good value and lots of decent parts. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The box and the contents look exactly like I remembered as a kid.
With all that having been said, here’s my obviously biased review. So, this model kit has a great deal of good memories associated with it. I then used those winnings to buy the AMT Pumper and Ladder Truck that AMT offered. I built the model and won the following year with my build. It was the mid 70’s and I used my winnings to buy this kit. I won the local hobby shop model building contest that was held every summer in my hometown of Ft. It was the first large model I ever built as a kid. I must confess a strong nostalgic connection to this kit.
